AFTER competing, and winning, at the first leg of the 2022 Global Champion Tour in Miami, Conor Swail made the short journey back to Wellington, Florida where he spent most of the winter and didn’t delay in winning another class. While the 2022 WEF circuit has concluded, the ESP Spring competition continues are the venue.

He guided his own and Team Philipparts’ Theo 160 to win Thursday’s three-star 1.40m when he was the fastest of 23 double clears from 52 starters, stopping the clock in 24.76 seconds.

Finishing just three-hundredths of a second behind their time for the runner-up spot was Brazil’s Rodrigo Pessoa and Chili, in 24.79 second, ahead of Lebanon’s Jad Dana in 25.27 seconds with Fleur-De-Lis’ Cherie.

Shane Sweetnam placed third in Saturday’s three-star $37,000 1.50m Classic at the venue. In the 12-horse jump-off, the Cork native was one of 12 clears in 37.58 seconds to slot into fourth place with Ceres van het Moeshof. Jonathan Corrigan finished seventh with Fair Play when clear in 39.35 seconds. Victory went to Mexico’s Eugenio Garza Perez with Victer Dinn DH Z when they were fastest in 36.32 seconds.
