Swail and Coyle prominent at Spruce

IRISH riders were in the winnings at Spruce Meadows with Conor Swail and Jordan Coyle both posting a series of wins and top placings at the Canadian venue.

Co Down’s Swail took the runner-up place in the RBC 1.60m Grand Prix riding Count Me In. Swail, currently World No 5, delivered a clear in 39.14, to finish just fractions behind winner Matthew Sampson and Fabric DN, who clocked 38.93.

Swail added a win in the 1.50m Bantrel Cup to his record while Derry’s Jordan Coyle took fifth place in this line-up with Costa Dam, clear in 72.35.

Swail went on to claim sixth place in the AltaGas 1.45m with Gamble, clear in 45.03 and this combination was back in the ribbons taking second place in ATCO 1.50m on Friday, clear in 41.77. Robert Blanchette and Chardonnay, took third place in the AON Jumper, when they kept all the poles in place (58secs).

Grand Prix win for Coyle

Coyle put in a impressive performance to take victory in the 1.45m ATCO CSI2* Grand Prix. The top 35 riders from earlier competitions booked their place in the two-star Grand Prix Final. First to go against the clock, Coyle laid down the gauntlet when they delivered what proved to be an unbeatable clear in 43.98 seconds.

In addition, Coyle posted a third place in the Reacon Metal 1.40m with Picador, clear in 69.07. Coyle then went on to take the win in the Mercer Jumper 1.45m with Ballyoskill Big Bucks, clear in 70.95.

In the RBC Capital Markets 1.55m, Coyle proved best of the Irish when he took sixth with Centriko Volo, with just an unlucky one down in the jump-off (40.63). Later, Coyle also took fourth place with Ariso in the ATB 1.50m, again with four faults (79.83) on the board.
