PHILIP McGuane and Orphea HQ were on form at the four-star Traverse City Horse Show at Williamsburg, Michigan over the weekend, when they finished as runners-up in Sunday’s $182,000 Grand Prix from a start list of 27. The pair jumped double clear in a jump-off time of 35.93 to take home a $36,400 prize; they were less than 0.3 seconds behind class winner Kaitlin Campbell (USA) on Castlefield Cornelious (35.67), who took home $60,060 for her efforts. Shane Sweetnam placed fourth with Coriaan Van Klapscheut Z (36.70) for $18,200.
Thursday saw Lorcan Gallagher ride Omar Van De Hunters into fifth place in the $2,000 1.40m class, while there were three Irish in the top six of the four-star $32,000 speed class, with Philip McGuane in third on Paso Doble SCF, Sweetnam on King of Diamonds Z in fifth and Jonathan Corrigan on Darius De Kerglenn in sixth.
