TYRONE’S Niamh McEvoy continued with her successful run of form over the weekend. Just a week on from making her Longines League Of Nations debut for Ireland in the Middle East, McEvoy rode the 12-year-old gelding Jargon DN to win Saturday’s four-star 1.45m Big Tour jump-off class at week three of the Andalucia Sunshine Tour at Vejer de la Frontera (February 17th to 22nd).
A total of 74 horses and riders lined out to contest the class, with 13 of them booking their place in the jump-off. Eight combinations maintained a clean sheet second time around, with McEvoy the fastest of these in a time of 35.61 seconds to claim victory. Nearest rival Matias Larocca (ARG) on Con Corrado 4 stopped the clock in 35.83 for second place, with Sameh El Dahan (GBR) on the 12-year-old mare WKD Balou Breeze (ISH) placing third in 36.08.
