Mark McAuley

runner-up in Vichy

LOUTH’s Mark McAuley and his wife Charlotte McAuley, riding for Sweden, shared second place in the two-star Grand Prix of Vichy, France, last Sunday, behind Swiss winner Pius Schwizer. Mark, riding the 10-year-old French-bred mare Destinee de Vains, posted a time of 39.93 seconds in the 15-horse jump-off to finish runner-up. Amazingly, Charlotte and Dulcinee de Kerglenn posted the exact same time to share the placing and both picked up €4,585. Earlier in the week Mark won and finished second in a one-star seven-year-old class with Gaia de Farjonniere.

Quite Chacco passes away aged 10

SUSAN Fitzpatrick shared the sad news that her 10-year-old gelding Quite Chacco passed away due to intestinal issues. The German-bred gelding by Quaid I joined her string in 2020 and together they achieved plenty of success, nationally and internationally. Writing on her social media, Fitzpatrick said: “[I am] Devastated to share our wonderful horse Quite Chacco has passed away due to an intestinal issue. I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to be his rider and care for him as if he were part of our family. He taught me so much both inside and outside the ring, I will miss the view through those ears.”
