MARK McAuley added to Ireland’s tally of Grand Prix victories worldwide last weekend, when he posted an unbeatable time in the jump-off of the three-star 1.50m Grand Prix De Megeve in France riding L’Arc En Ciel Z. Of the 60 starters, 13 kept clean sheets to progress to the jump-off and, from these, seven finished without further penalty. McAuley’s time of 36.20 could not be caught and allowed him to claim the €14,200 first prize ahead of Belgium’s Anthony Wellens and Quelle Force Van Sappenleen (36.77).
Earlier in the week, McAuley also finished 10th in the three-star 1.40m Prix Coeur Vanessa speed class, this time riding Illico Des Rondets, while compatriot Olivia Ann Nell and Cinca 3 finished fifth in Thursday’s one-star 1.15m Prix Groupama.
