TIPPERARY’s Denis Lynch and his new 1.60m mount, Rubens LS La Silla, continued their good run of form when finishing runners-up in the five-star Grand Prix at Waregem, Belgium, last Sunday.

Formally ridden at Nations Cup level by Ireland’s Conor Swail, the Mexican-bred 13-year-old stallion was purchased for Lynch by Onyx Consulting Ltd in August. The combination were one of seven clear rounds from a startlist of 37 in Sunday’s 1.60m Grand Prix. World number one Steve Guerdat set the standard early in the jump-off aboard Alamo, breaking the beam in 38.26 seconds.
