IRISH horses and riders took home a raft of ribbons at the VillaMoura International in Portugal last weekend. Francis Derwin Jr took top honours in the €25,500 Table A, one round against the Clock 1.45m class with his father’s AHG Whiterock Cruise Down (ISH), a 2009 stallion by Cruisings Mickey Finn (ISH) out of Whiterock Touch (ISH) by Touchdown (ISH). This horse was bred by Ann Gannon Clancy of Co Longford.

Izac Ketteridge (GBR) won the €2,500 Table A, one round against the clock 1.35m class riding Z7 Canya Dance (ISH), a 2011 mare by Can Ya Makin (HOLST) out of HHS Chantilly Lace (ISH) by Cavalier Royale (HOLST) and bred by Anne Hughes.

Aine Shortall (IRL) was first in the €1,500 Table A against the clock with jump off against the clock 1.20m class with Killerisk Can Ya (ISH), a 2012 gelding by Can Ya Makan (HOLST) out of R Umonia 14 (KWPN) by Mermus R (KWPN). This horse was bred by Maura Counihan of Co Kerry and is owned by Francis Derwin.

Daniel McAlinden (IRL) was sixth in the €8,000 Table A 1.45m class with AHG Whiterock Doctor Cruise (ISH), a 2013 gelding by Indoctro (HOLST) out of Miss Whiterock Cruise (ISH) by Cruising (ISH)[TIH]. This horse was bred by Ann Gannon Clancy, Co Longford, and is owned by Luisa Horta Osorio.

Another Irish podium place went to Nicola Fitzgibbon (IRL) who was third in the €8,000 Table A against the clock with jump off against the clock 1.40m class riding Emily May (ISH), a 2013 Mare by Sligo Candy Boy (ISH) out of Lough Eske (ISH) by Cavalier Royale (HOLST) and bred by Thomas Dowd. Fitzgibbon also had a fourth place win with this horse in the €2,000 Table A one round against the Clock 1.30m class.
