TIPPERARY show jumper Liam O’Meara finished off a good first week in Vilamoura, Portugal, when taking the runner-up placing in Sunday’s three-star 1.35m jump-off class at the tour, which saw just 10 riders from 110 starters produce double clear rounds.

Riding Martin O’Meara’s Irish Sport Horse gelding Curraghgraigue Jack Take Flight (HBC Jacomar x Cordoba), his time of 33.34 was just a second slower than French winner Mathieu Billot and Lagavulin 2. The 12-year-old ISH gelding was bred by Baden Powell and has an impressive record at National Grand Prix level in Ireland.
