RICHARD Howley won the three-star Grand Prix in Sariego, Spain, last Sunday. Riding Consulent de Prelet Z, who joined his string towards the end of 2021, he was one of 14 clears in the first round from 42 starters.

Against the clock, a tricky course meant only six were able to return a second clear and Howley was the fastest of those in 36.77 seconds to earn €17,160. Spain’s Eduardo Alvarez Aznar was runner-up with Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot in 37.7 secs.

The Irish Sport Horse Maxwin Kinmar Agalux placed fourth with Thailand’s Janakabhorn Karunayadhaj. Bred by Gerry Marron, the 10-year-old mare is by Aganiz du Seigneur out of the Lux Z-sired Kinmar Lux Good.
