MAYO’S Ciaran Nallon concluded a great show at Riesenbeck International’s two-star fixture in Germany last week by winning Saturday’s Final Large Tour 1.45m Grand Prix with the nine-year-old Casalla Blue PS, owned by Beerbaum Stables.

From the 61 starters, 16 jumped a clear first round to proceed to the jump-off, with eight combinations completing without fault. Nallon, who is now based in Germany at Ludger Beerbaum’s yard, and his mount were among these, jumping a speedy double clear in an unbeatable jump-off time of 34.07 seconds. His closest rival was German runner-up Philipp Schulze Topphoff on Corny M (34.78), with fellow German Christian Ahlmann on Applebridge Tag Z placing third in 35.84 - in fact, German riders accounted for second to sixth placings in the class. One of these was Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann who placed fourth with Conor Swail’s former mount, My Lady Lavista. Wexford’s Paraic Kenny finished eighth on board the eight-year-old stallion Ganele De Rie Z, with a steady clear in 40.01.
