WHILE his older brother Bertram was winning in Florida, 19-year-old Harry Allen finished runner-up in the two-star Grand Prix in Ornago, Italy, aboard Ballywalter Farm’s 10-year-old stallion Guinness.

The pair were among a startlist of 48 in the 1.45m class, with 12 progressing to the jump-off, including some four fault rounds. Just five combinations produced a clear round and Allen and the Nabab de Reve-sired stallion posted a time of 42.56 seconds to take second place. Victory went to Switzerland’s Bryan Balsiger and Clouzot de Lassus in a time of 41.17 seconds.
