Creggs Pipes is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury in Sunday's Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.

Trainer Andrew Slattery had high hopes his star mare could make her presence felt in the Group 1 feature, having produced a career-best performance to win the Group 2 Lanwades Stud Stakes at the track at the end of May.

However, having built up a big lead after setting a furious pace, the five-year-old faded in the straight and passed the post last of 11 finishers.

Slattery said: "She was lame after the race and this morning and we were worried it might be career-threatening.

"Thankfully nothing showed up on the X-ray this afternoon and it looks like she's just sprained a joint. It's a big relief as we thought she was finished at one stage this morning.

"She'll be on the easy list for a month now and we can look at running her again in six to eight weeks.

"I'd say she was feeling something to have run as free as she did. She is free-going mare, but not normally that free.

"There had to be something amiss and I think we'll be keeping her to soft ground from here on in."
