Matthew Smith is preparing impressive Bellewstown winner Winter Lion for Killarney and Galway this month.

The son of Galileo bolted up by seven and a half lengths in the valuable Fast Shipping Bellewstown Handicap Hurdle and has previously scored on the flat at the Galway Festival for Denis Hogan back in 2014.

Smith said: "Galway will be the plan. He will probably go to Killarney on Thursday week for a handicap hurdle. He has come out of Bellewstown well. He's a tough horse and enjoys his racing.

"I wasn't worried about the yielding ground in Bellewstown as he is versatile."

Prior to Bellewstown, the in-form six-year-old dead-heated in a two-mile-one flat handicap at Limerick last month.
