THE ISPCA has issued a manifesto for animals ahead of the General Election taking place next Saturday, February 8th The charity is appealing to the public to make their vote count for animal welfare and to give their vote to the candidates they believe will stand up for animals. The ISPCA has also issued a scorecard on how the government performed in terms of animal welfare over the last four years. The verdict – some progress made, but must do better.

ISPCA CEO Dr Andrew Kelly said: “During the General Election campaign, politicians will be knocking on doors canvassing for your vote. We would encourage everyone who cares about animals to make their vote count by asking politicians if they will support the ISPCA Manifesto for Animals and stronger protection for animals in Ireland. In this document, we have highlighted important animal welfare issues and actions we would like to see the next government take to make Ireland a better and safer place for all animals.”
