Health and Safety Authority data has shown there have been 10 farm fatalities involving ATVs in the last decade.

New regulations surrounding mandatory ATV training and compulsory wearing of a helmet for all users came into effect in 2023. All farmers and any staff members within a workplace who operate a quad bike or ATV must now have undergone certified training and must now wear a helmet when riding a quad.

The ITBA have recently released information on one-day courses for members who are experienced users (with discounts available for group rates). Training can be made available to ITBA members, either individually at regional training sites, or across a farm should this be needed.

If you are an ITBA member and are interested in ATV safety courses contact the ITBA on 045-877543 for rates.
