WE try to keep things as similar to home as possible, so they don’t have any big changes if they are travelling for a few days. We keep them on all the same feed, we give them some Gastro Guard for their stomachs if they are a little bit stressy.
We put tail bandages on everything, correct rugs for the differing temperatures to make sure they are not too warm and not too cold. We make sure that is checked fairly often.
A little bit quirky
Some of the horses can be a little bit quirky with travel and Lisa Bushaway, who travels with the horses is brilliant, she has teddies for them all to keep something a little bit familiar. They’ll get their teddies tied up in front of them so they have a familiar face [and smell!] in front of them. We always make sure to rest them well at stopovers and keep their boots and bandages right throughout the journeys.
For me it’s simple, I always take a charger, headphones and a good book!
