LANCASTER Bomber was, until Sunday, one of the best horses in training not to have won a Group 1 race. He rectified that with his victory in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, stepping up in trip to 10 furlongs after his third place finish behind stable companion Rhododendron in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes. Prior to that the perennial bridesmaid had been runner-up in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes, Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, St James’s Palace Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Mile.

Bred by the Sun Flower Syndicate, Lancaster Bomber (War Front) is the second Group 1 winner and fourth stakes winner from Sun Flower, and she is a daughter of Indian Ridge (Ahonoora), broodmare sire of Romanised.
