GORDON Lord Byron is one of 10 entries for a race named in his honour at Haydock next Thursday. Trained by Tom Hogan, the 11-year-old has won 16 of his 102 lifetime starts. He has not won a race since May 2017 but has been placed three times in stakes company this year. Hogan said: “He seems to be in great form and ready to go back to Haydock. It was a nice gesture by them to put on this race.”

The highest rated horse in Thursday's seven-furlong race is Tabarrak (110) but Richard Hannon's charge has to concede 7lb to Gordon Lord Byron (106) on Thursday.
