THE Monbeg prefix is very much a magnet for purchasers at young horse performance sales and, on Wednesday, Tomás Doyle’s four-year-old Monbeg Condor and the year younger Private Monbeg, topped the list of transactions at the Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale.

The pair were part of a six-strong draft consigned by Doyle and his wife Marti Rudd, who showcased their three older lots at Barnadown earlier in the week and commented: “We knew we had lovely horses going to this year’s sale and we were delighted with what we got.
