The third day of Galway’s October bank holiday fixture has been cancelled.

Galway successfully staged jumps racing on Sunday and Monday but conditions were very testing. Ahead of Tuesday's scheduled flat card, a precautionary inspection was scheduled for 8am but the decision to cancel was published at 7.30am.

A statement from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board said: "Following 12mm of rain overnight and rain continuing at present, the track at Galway is unfit for racing and the fixture scheduled for today has been cancelled."

Racing at Wexford on Monday was also cancelled due to waterlogging.

There is all-weather racing at Dundalk Stadium on Wednesday, and again on Friday, which is also the first day of the two-day Down Royal Festival.
