AT Deauville last Saturday, there was a massive punt on Cavale Doree in the Prix du Calvados-Association des Jockeys. She did not let her supporters down as the daughter of Sunday Break came with a well-timed challenge in the hands of Julien Auge to beat the English fillies Asidious Alexander and Baileys Showgirl comfortably by just over a length. Fourth placed Obedient was unlucky.
Christophe Ferland trains Cavale Doree at La Teste near Arcachon where he bought the filly at the Osarus Sales for €34,000 last September. He said: “I asked Auge to ride her from behind as it was her first race over seven furlongs and she likes picking off other horses. The filly stayed well so will be entered in the Prix Marcel Boussac. It was great for the owners as it was their first horse.”
