JOE Fogarty of Kilfeacle Stud purchased Umlani for €6,500 as a five-year-old from Sandra and Ian Fox’s Ardrums House Stud. She was a gift for his son Aidan and she is a mare who keeps on giving for the family. The daughter of Great Commotion mated especially well with Ballyhane Stud’s Dandy Man and both of her offspring by that sire are stakes winners.

The latest to become one is the Noel O’Callaghan-owned Rapacity Alexander and she won her second race recently, a listed event at Chantilly. Placed on her first two outings, she opened her account at Lingfield in late May, three weeks before her stakes success. She was sold by Aidan as a foal for €42,000 to the BBA Ireland on behalf of Biddestone Stud, and they were in clover when they resold her 11 months later to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for 90,000gns.
