Bacardys could be worth taking a chance on. He hasn’t won since November 2019 and is a maiden after six previous attempts over fences. However, he should appreciate this drop in class after finishing fifth to Fury Road in a Leopardstown Grade 1 last time and he will take a good deal of beating if he can return to the form of his reappearance second to Bob Olinger at Gowran in November.

On that occasion he was beaten 6½l by that top-class prospect and it is worth bearing in mind that he did finish 10l in advance of the subsequent Grade 1 scorer Master McShee.

He could have most to fear from stablemate Egality Mans who was lying a close second when falling two out in a Punchestown beginners’ chase won by En Beton last month.

Grand Paradis is respected following a respectable third to the exciting Jungle Boogie last time.

SELECTION: BACARDYS

Next Best: Egality Mans

A hopeful vote goes to Espion Du Chenet who is a four-time winner over fences over the course of the last 13 months with his most recent victory coming at Down Royal in late October.

He is only 5lbs higher than when recording his most recent success and he shaped better than the final result at Naas several weeks ago when fading in the closing stages to be beaten 13l into fifth by Fighting Fit.

Halsafari’s recent form doesn’t look that inspiring. However, two of his last three outings came at Grade B level and he should find this level of competition much less exacting.

He began his season with a fourth to Poseidon in a reasonable handicap chase at Cork and followed that with a third to Epson Du Houx in another handicap chase at that track.

Nelly’s Money deserves consideration following her half-length second to Bitview Colin at Clonmel earlier in the month.

SELECTION: ESPION DU CHENET

Next Best: Halsafari

Where’s Frankie could be able to make a winning handicap chase debut. He lines up off a mark of 89 which is the same one that yielded a handicap hurdle success over 3m at this track on New Year’s Day.

The manner of that success that suggested that he was a horse that shouldn’t have any trouble adding to his tally over the coming months and it looks reasonable to assume that he can step forward significantly on what he has shown over fences so far.

He is preferred to the top-weight, It Could Be You. The latter was a capable sort over hurdles and ran with credit on his second chase start when he was beaten less than 14l into fourth by Now Where Or When in a restricted beginners’ chase at this track several weeks ago.

The form of that last race looks solid and there could easily be more to come from this eight-year-old.

School Lane comes here chasing a hat-trick and his strong finishing effort over 2m 5f here last time would suggest that this trip is well within his grasp.

Willie Mullins appears to hold all the aces here as he fields four mares of considerable ability.

Marginal preference is for Grangee who didn’t run at all badly against the geldings last time when finishing fourth in a Leopardstown Grade 1 won by Mighty Potter.

She also won her maiden hurdle at this track and it is worth recalling that just under a year ago she won a Grade 2 mares’ bumper at Leopardstown when she edged out Party Central, with Brandy Love back in third.

The latter was an impressive winner of a maiden hurdle at Naas last month and looks more than capable of holding her own at this level.

The course-and-distance winner Allegorie De Vassy impressed on her Irish debut here four weeks ago and showed graded race potential on that occasion, which makes her a formidable contender. She is another who deserves the utmost respect, while Party Central cannot be ignored having won a listed contest at Punchestown last time out.

She only got home by a head on that occasion but shaped like much the best mare on show for much of that race and is better than the winning margin over Humble Glory would suggest.

SELECTION: GRANGEE

Next Best: Brandy Love

Ha D’or has been found a good opportunity to get off the mark. His comeback at Navan in December yielded a respectable second to Au Fleuron and the winner’s subsequent effort in a useful rated novice hurdle last weekend gives that form a solid look.

His form last season was headed by a third to Zanahiyr in a Leopardstown Grade 2 and that would also suggest a race like this is well within his reach.

Bang On Target had to settle for 10th behind Bronn at Naas a few weeks ago but her lack of a recent run may have counted against her.

Her only previous outing yielded an encouraging third to Imperial Ruler in a Tipperary bumper and she looks more than capable of reaching the frame here.

SELECTION: HA D’OR

This could go to Flame Bearer who was a very promising dual bumper winner last spring and progressed well from his hurdling debut behind Dysart Dynamo to finish a 2½l third to Bronn at Naas last time.

He shaped up well in that Naas race and didn’t quite get the run of things in the straight after going for a run up the winner’s inside. A maiden hurdle success is well within his reach.

Micro Manage was beaten in two maiden hurdles last season but ran quite well to reach the frame on both occasions, more recently finishing second to Genois at Naas. He is a very smart sort on the flat and remains a horse of potential over hurdles.

Roaring Potter’s debut second to Grangee at this track makes him one of the foremost contenders, but he lines up with questions to answer after a lacklustre run at Leopardstown over Christmas.

SELECTION: FLAME BEARER

Next Best: Micro Manage

L’Yser can build on a respectable effort at Punchestown a couple of weeks ago when he finished fourth in a maiden hurdle won by Hiaou.

He was beaten just over 25l on that occasion but showed enough to suggest he could be very competitive in a race such as this, while he wasn’t disgraced behind Bronn on his previous outing.

There was also some promise in his bumper debut at this track two months ago.

He might be able to deal with the very lightly raced nine-year-old The Blind Piper who looks a leading player based on his fourth to Daily Present at this track two weeks ago when he was beaten just over 12 lengths.

SELECTION: L’YSER

A third win on the bounce looks to be within reach for Paddys Planet. He looked a nice type when winning a maiden hurdle at Limerick in November and he followed that with a handicap success at Naas at the start of this month where he looked to have plenty to spare in getting home by 4½l from Never Off Duty.

He is now 9lbs higher but might just cope with that rise and the longer trip shouldn’t present him with any difficulties.

Robinstown was well held at Limerick last time but his previous second to Futurum Regem at Navan was a good effort as the winner has franked that form in much better company.

Lord Lariat is very interesting on his return to hurdles as he comes here in great shape after handicap chase wins at this track and at Punchestown.

SELECTION: PADDYS PLANET

Next Best: Lord Lariat
