THE EI100 (Amateur) was the best subscribed of these classes at Kilguilkey, with seven riders on the start list. Zoe Kavanagh emerged the best of them with Richard McElligott’s Farrellys Tavern, a 13-year-old son of VDL Arkansas, who was recording his fourth win at the level this year. The pair were leading at the conclusion of the first phase on a score of 28.5, but one pole on the ground in the show jumping left them on the same score as second-placed Rolline O’Callaghan and the evergreen Splendid B. Louise Moran and Spirit Nala were faultless in the jumping phases to finish third on their opening mark of 35.3.

Three combinations contested the EI110 (Amateur) and just two did the same at EI90 (Amateur) level. Alannah Kelly’s Milshogue Bailey is another horse to demonstrate consistency in the classes, and the partnership earned their third win this year in the former when they finished on 37.3, while Stephanie Cunningham and Ballymacadam BFM Lily similarly took their second consecutive victory in the latter on 31.8.
