THE entry at Vesey Lodge last Saturday was boosted by the inclusion of the three Sport Horse Ireland Eventing Series age classes and resulted in a successful first visit to the Co Antrim venue by Stephen McAvinchey.

Riding the Lux Z mare Newtownbarry Lucky Star, the Ratoath engineer was lying second after dressage (27.8) but was left in the lead when the Katie O’Sullivan-ridden Rehy Quality Time (24.5) lowered a pole in the show jumping ring, where he also picked up three time penalties, before having the only cross-country problem in the nine-runner class with a stop at fence four.
