ONE of the last to sign up for the Horseware Event Riders Challenge Race was Tredstep Ireland’s Aidan Keogh who has been to his local racecourse, Leopardstown, on a few occasions but otherwise has no real interest in the sport.

This is somewhat surprising as his late father Michael held one of the main positions in the Turf Club, that of Registrar of the INHS Committee, from 1977 until he retired in 1995. “If my father was still alive he’d enjoy Wednesday,” said Aidan whose support group at Dundalk Stadium will include family members and the rider’s good friend Paddy Hughes of HorseFirst.
