POSH Perfect got off the mark over six furlongs at Pontefract on Sunday, and what initially attracted me to her was the name of her owner, Nick Hartery. The new chairman of Horse Racing Ireland has enjoyed plenty of success as an owner in Ireland and England, but this was his first winner trained by Richard Fahey.

Posh Perfect cost 87,000gns as a foal at Newmarket and she is a daughter of Showcasing (Oasis Dream), from that sire’s fifth crop, and one of seven juvenile winners he has sired in 2018. Showcasing made a great start at stud, especially given that he retired at £5,000 and dropped immediately to £4,500 for three seasons.
