HARRY’S Bar won for the 14th time on all-weather surfaces, including seven at Dundalk, when landing the Book Online @ DundalkStadium.com Race over six furlongs.

Ado McGuinness’ eight-year-old gelding went off 8/11 favourite and was sent to the front approaching the final furlong by Cian MacRedmond before going on for a comfortable length-and-three-quarters success for Shamrock Thoroughbreds and Liam Ferguson.

McGuinness said afterwards: “He’s a brilliant horse, a great horse to have. We have him down to go away to Saudi - he is first reserve and I don’t know whether he is going to get in.

“We did enter him up in the sprints out in Dubai on the Super Saturday out there. He has the all-weather championships (in Britain) as well.

“Personally, I would rather go to Lingfield than Newcastle. The Lingfield track suits him around a bend, I think he is a far better horse around a bend.”

Double delight

McGuinness, MacRedmond and Shamrock Thoroughbreds doubled up with Dream Today who collared Little Queenie in the closing stages of the Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk Handicap over six furlongs.

After MacRedmond steered the 4/1 shot to victory by half a length, McGuinness said: “They (MacRedmond and Adam Caffrey) are two very important lads in my place and my place wouldn’t function without them.

“They ride all the work and they are very good lads. Adam is away on holidays, I sent him on a holiday!

“He’s a high-class horse, he dropped a couple of pounds from the last day and a couple of the others that were in front of him in the betting had gone up.

“We had a good weight swing, but what we did need was a very fast pace and we got it.”

Soushi sails away for Sheehy

THE 105-rated Okita Soushi appeared to have an ideal opportunity in the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Race over two miles, and so it proved.

Mikey Sheehy rode the 8/11 favourite to the front entering the straight and the pair sailed home in the final furlong to score by four lengths for Joseph O’Brien and owner Toshihiro Matsumoto.

Assistant trainer Brendan Powell said: “The idea was to get a run into him, he’s in at Saudi in a few weeks’ time. He hasn’t been accepted yet, but after this there is a possibility that he could go there.”

Richard O’Brien’s Satono Chevalier justified plenty of support in the Find Us On Facebook @dundalkstadium Handicap with an easy victory.

The 6/4 favourite travelled smoothly throughout as he tracked Dr Patrick. He swept past that rival a furlong and a half down and stretched away by six lengths, for a breakthrough success, in the hands of Jack Kearney.

The jockey, sporting Frank J Lynch’s colours, said: “It was just a matter of not getting there too soon. I was (tanking into the straight) and I didn’t get a lead for too long.

“I let Chris (Hayes, on Dr Patrick) go on and he picked up very well. He travelled out strong to the line.”

On the line

Seamie Heffernan drove Stormy Entry home to lead on the line in the Leading Trainer & Jockey Championship Race over a mile.

Charles E Fipke’s colt pipped Cash Out by a short-head and was returned at 7/4.

Trainer Willie Browne said: “I didn’t think he was up now, to be honest. I’m pleased, but I wish it was a bit more clear-cut - a win is a win.

“He’s tough and he stays well. He was up a furlong, but I think he will get further. I don’t think they went that quick early on and maybe he didn’t settle that good.”

Stormy Entry added to a seven-furlong victory at this track last month.

All falls right for Arcanears

ARCANEARS (4/1 favourite) availed of a sliding mark to oblige in division one of the 47-65 Dundalkstadium.com Apprentice Handicap over a mile.

When the eight-year-old gelding found daylight, he powered home in the final furlong to win by two and three-quarter lengths under Sam Ewing.

Mick Halford said: “I just felt in that bracket, with the blinkers on him, that some night the race was going to fall right for him. Thankfully, it did tonight.

“I’m thrilled for his owner, Carol Roper - she has been a great supporter of ours for a long time. She gets great satisfaction from it.”

Hugh Horgan conjured up a rattling finish from Numidia to get up by a head in division two of the Dundalkstadium.com Apprentice Handicap. The 13/2 chance made up plenty of ground to nab Indiana Grey.

Owner/trainer Peter Lawlor said: “A great ride altogether that was! He just dropped him on the line there.

“One mile one is his real trip. I have been running him over an extended one mile two and he has just been getting caught out. I decided to drop him down to a mile and see what happens.”

Horgan picked up a two-day suspension for excessive use of the whip.

McConnell on the scoresheet

Mulgrave (5/2 favourite) has struck form with a vengeance and followed up on a victory the previous week when dominating the View Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Handicap for owners Malachy Trainor, Eithne McMorrow, Gabriel Byrne and Turnings Syndicate.

Donagh O’Connor sent him about his business in the final furlong and the duo moved clear to win by three and three quarters of a length.

“We have done a lot of work with him and when he does everything right, in settling and breathing, he has a fair amount of ability,” John McConnell said.

“I would like to try him on the turf again. When he ran there before, he wasn’t doing things right.”
