Walshe records a double

IT was a busy weekend on the Dressage Ireland regional scene with the Eastern Region staging a show at Marlton on Saturday while three shows were held on Sunday, including one in the Midland & Western Region at Annaharvey Farm.

The home-based combination of Josephine Delahoyde and Cashmere competed in their first Prix St George together at Marlton and achieved a good score of 64.11%. However, they had to settle for second behind Jack Kennedy and Knocklucas Dan (65.88), a 15-year-old home-bred Irish Sport Horse gelding by Huntingfield Heathcliff.

Category 3 rider Iris Walshe recorded a Novice level double on her five-year-old Dutch-bred gelding Leroy VZ (by Hennessy) scoring 69.48 in the BD22 and 72.08 in the BD23.

Two combinations finished on the top score of 67.07 in the Elementary BD43, Ellen Lonergan on the five-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Lysander and Mairead Dolan with her ISH gelding Master Touch, an 18-year-old son of Touchdown.

Daphne Lush and her traditionally bred ISH gelding Millpoint Carnival won the second Elementary class, the BD45, on a score of 70.
