THE Skevanish Equestrian Centre, Inishannon was the venue for the South Munster Region’s show on Sunday when the only dual winner was young Amber Lane.

Lane first claimed the Trailblazers’ Junior/Preliminary DI6 Test on her mother Rachel’s 16-year-old chesnut gelding Dubarry (70.38%). Here she beat herself into second with the part-bred Welsh gelding Barkway State Affair (68.65) but she then partnered that 19-year-old Rotherwood Statesman bay to win the Trailblazers’ Junior/Novice N23 on a score of 69.03. Both classes were judged by Marie Hennessy (List 2).

A member of the Duhallow Branch, Lane has been selected to represent the Irish Pony Club, and the Republic of Ireland, with Barkway State Affair at the dressage home international at the Royal Windsor Show in May.

Hennessy awarded her highest score of the day in the two-runner Trailblazers Senior/Preliminary DI6 class to Ellie Fleming Hand on board the eventing mare Gamiro 8 (70.58%), a 12-year-old daughter of Celito Lindo. Betty O’Neill (List 5), who judged the two best-filled classes of the day, awarded her top score of 72.65 to Gwyn Holmes, winner of the Intro DI Test 6 with Hillgrounds Flamenco, an eight-year-old mare by Franklyn Sugar out of Cilla Vola, by Sorento.
