1.45 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle 2m 2f 165yds

A chance is taken on Dani Barcelona. She was good enough to win a Clonmel bumper on her debut this time last year and she was also placed in a one-mile–six-furlong maiden at Gowran several months later when those in behind included Conflated. That level of form suggests she is up to winning a race like this, and she can overcome a 235-day absence.

Happy D’Ex won a bumper at Fairyhouse last November. She did struggle somewhat on her first three runs over hurdles, but her third to Dinoblue at Clonmel in January is a decent effort in the context of this race. She can get closely involved.

SELECTION: DANI BARCELONA

2.20 Steel Lintels Ireland 10th Anniversary Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (80-109) 2m 1f 65yds

Uncle Gerhard makes plenty of appeal. He won a two-mile handicap hurdle at Gowran at the start of the year and he has since shown that he can add to his tally. He ran well at Fairyhouse over Easter to finish third to Ideal Pal and Celestial Horizon and followed that with an unlucky second to The Dasher Conway at Clonmel last month.

He gets the vote to see off Willyouwalkwithme who has a fine record at a track where he has already won twice. He lines off up off a creditable neck second to Kingfisher Lane at this venue last month.

SELECTION: UNCLE GERHARD

2.55 Congratulations Honeysuckle Connections (Q.R.) Handicap Hurdle (80-95) 2m 5f 60yds

Nuttorridge has a decent effort at this track and might be able to notch up his third course success. He has to contend with a mark which is 8lbs higher than the one he won off over hurdles here last season, but he comes here in decent heart having won over fences here last month. It wouldn’t surprise if he were given most to do by Y Fyn Duw A Fydd who suggested he could win a race at this level when chasing home Name Me Famous at Kilbeggan a couple of months ago. He should be able to cope with the step up to this trip.

3.30 Joe Rea Memorial Opportunity Beginners Chase 2m 7f 110yds

Paddys Planet might be the one to side with. He won twice over hurdles last season and he began his chasing career with a respectable effort at Punchestown a couple of weeks ago when he was beaten just over 22 lengths into fifth by Panda Boy. That was quite a useful contest and this race represents a marked drop in class for him.

Quantum Realm was quite disappointing at Kilbeggan last time but he had previously run well at that track to chase home Sweet Will in a handicap chase and a rating of 113 would suggest that he should be very competitive in a race of this nature.

SELECTION: PADDYS PLANET

4.05 Tote Jackpot Is Back Handicap Chase 2m 7f 110yds

He has a 164-day absence to deal with, but Favori Logique is selected. He was most unlucky not to win four races in a row last autumn and his last completed start makes for impressive reading as he was only beaten a half-length by the subsequent Irish Grand National winner Lord Lariat in a two-mile–five-furlong handicap chase at Fairyhouse in November.

He can deal with the bottom-weight, Getaway Goldie, who won over hurdles at Perth in April. She will need to improve to what she has shown in Ireland but her Perth effort suggests that she might be progressing, and she looks sure to relish this stamina test.

SELECTION: FAVORI LOGIQUE

4.40 Plus2Print Remembering Tony Oakes MBE Handicap Chase (0-102) 2m 3f 55yds

Na Caith Tobac hails from a yard in great shape and he should be able to follow up his successful chasing debut at this track last month. On that occasion he won a confined beginners’ chase over this trip and an initial handicap mark of 102 gives him a fair chance of making his mark in a handicap such as this.

He gets the vote ahead of Arthur’s Baby whose fourth to Esthers Marvel in a rated beginners’ chase at Kilbeggan in April gives him a decent chance of being closely involved.

SELECTION: NA CAITH TOBAC

5.15 AJC Group (Pro/Am) Flat Race 2m 2f 165yds

This might fall to Folio whose belated racecourse debut yielded an encouraging effort at Punchestown a couple of weeks ago. On that occasion he was beaten just over 11 lengths into third by Tax For Max having threatened to give that rival a stern test at one point inside the final half mile. He should be all the better for that run and showed enough there to suggest that he can win a bumper.

What Path looks the obvious threat after following up a satisfactory debut fifth at Fairyhouse with third to subsequent winner The Last Mardi in a Ballinrobe bumper two months ago.

SELECTION: FOLIO
