3.40 Tattersalls Irish 2000

Guineas (Group 1) 1m

Atlantic Coast: Got the better of Bright Stripes when landing the Group 3 Killavullan Stakes on heavy ground at Leopardstown on final start at two. However, has yet to prove he’s of Group 1 standard and needs to bounce back from a disappointing comeback on heavy ground at Leopardstown last month.

Bright Stripes: Left behind a no-show on bottomless Leopardstown ground to start his season when winning the Listed Tetrarch Stakes at 16/1 here last time. Like Atlantic Coast, he has 16lb to find on official ratings with Rosallion.

Haatem: Impressed when winning the Group 3 Craven Stakes last month and was only a length and three quarters behind Rosallion when third in the 2000 Guineas. Entitled to be on the premises again but work needed to reverse Newmarket form.

Mountain Bear: Fine second to Unquestionable in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, having been running over shorter before then. Reported to have suspected non-displaced condylar fracture in the immediate aftermath of that career-best performance and entitled to improve from this run following 204 days off the track.

River Tiber: Officially rated 2lb inferior to stablemate Unquestionable but vote of confidence in his chances that Ryan Moore has sided with him. Smart winner of the Coventry Stakes and far from disgraced when third in the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes on other two runs last term. Has his stamina to prove on first start beyond six furlongs and uncertain to improve at this trip on paper.

Rosallion: Top-class two-year-old last term, impressing in the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (Unquestionable second). Proved he’s at least every bit as good at three when second in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. With the winner not involved here, he’s the one to beat here.

Take Me To Church: Bolted up in the Madrid Handicap off 86 in March. Current rating of 100 is the lowest in the field and needs to leave behind below-par effort in Leopardstown Group 3 last time.

Unquestionable: Rock-solid two-year-old form, initially campaigned over five and six furlongs before posting two best displays over further at end of the season. Got within a length of Rosallion when second in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and won Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on first attempt at a mile. This ought to be more of a stamina test, his lack of a recent run isn’t ideal and Ryan Moore partners the stable’s River Tiber.
