TODAY'S cancelled Curragh meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 13th, a day after the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes fixture at the same venue.

However, the Minstrel Stakes (Group 2) has been transferred to Leopardstown this Thursday, July 27th to form an eight-race card. This race reverts back to entries after final forfeit stage with fresh declarations to run to be made by 10am this Tuesday, July 25th.

The Rathbride Fillies Stakes (Group 3) will be staged at Gowran Park next Saturday, July 29th. This race will close for fresh entries along with the remainder of the Gowran Park meeting by noon this Tuesday, July 25th.

Finally, the Hurry Harriet Fillies Stakes (Listed), which was due to be held at Gowran Park on Wednesday, August 16th, moves to the rescheduled Curragh meeting on Sunday, August 13th and will now close for entries on Tuesday, August 8th, along with the remainder of the Curragh card.

Racing on Sunday at the Curragh failed to survive an early morning inspection with racing abandoned due to areas of waterlogging at the track.

Persistent heavy rainfall began midway through Saturday's card and continued throughout the evening which brought about Sunday morning’s 7.30am check on conditions.

The highlight of Sunday’s card was set to be the Group 2 Romanised Minstrel Stakes where Joseph O’Brien’s Jumbly and Dermot Weld’s Irish 1000 Guineas fourth Tarawa were disputing favouritism, but with areas of the track found to be unfit for racing and further rain forecast, officials were left with no option but to abandon the meeting.

Brendan Sheridan, IHRB clerk of the course said: “We have had 23mm of rain since around 4pm yesterday and parts of the track are waterlogged and unfit for racing.

“It is currently still raining and having spoken with Met Éireann this morning they are forecasting a further 5-10mm of rain today so unfortunately, we have been left with no option but to cancel the fixture today.”

Heavy rainfall also saw the abandonment of Sunday’s flat action at Redcar, with the track failing to pass an 8am precautionary inspection.
