CAREFUL note should be made of jockey David Egan, especially while he can still claim 7lb. The son of John Egan and Sandra Hughes won the fillies’ handicap at Chelmsford on Sunday on Gay Kelleway’s Stosur, having led fully five furlongs from home before holding Bint Dandy and champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa, no less, by a head in a driving finish.

Kelleway is one of several trainers at Newmarket and beyond to have noticed the youngster, who followed up for her on 22/1 chance Ubla at Kempton on Wednesday. He was also successful on Paul D’Arcy’s Anastazia at Yarmouth last week.
