THE Irish-bred Youmzain was quite a globe-trotter during his racing days and he amassed the not inconsiderable sum of £3.4 million during the six seasons he raced. A son of Sinndar, he was bred at Hamwood Stud near Dunboyne by Frank Dunne and sold through John Troy as a yearling for 30,000gns to bloodstock agent Gill Richardson.

Trained by Mick Channon, the colt won over a mile at Goodwood as a two-year-old before adding four more races the following year, including a Group 1 in Germany. His only other career victory came as a five-year-old when he captured the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.
