IT was a case of family uniting when the two-year-old Jalapeno opened his winning account in Rome last week. The two-year-old son of Windsor Knot had been placed four times prior to this and was well due his first success.

He is by the Pivotal stallion Windsor Knot who stands at John and Martyn McEnery’s Rossenarra Stud and was bred by John’s brother Paul at his Vinesgrove Stud. Paul sold the colt last year at Tattersalls Ireland for €8,000 to Italian trainer Agostino Affe. Jalapeno is the second foal of his dam but the first to be named. He is followed by a colt foal by Arakan.
