GOFFS have unveiled the catalogue and format for the inaugural Goffs Classic Breeze Up Sale, in which 62 juveniles are catalogued to breeze five days ahead of their sales date. The breeze will take place at Naas Racecourse from 11am on Monday, June 23rd, while selling takes place after racing on Saturday, June 28th (Pretty Polly Stakes day at the Curragh). Bidding will get underway at 6.15pm at Kildare Paddocks.

This follows the format of two-year-old sales in the US, designed to allow time for inspections and vetting, but also avoids a clash with the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, which takes place on June 25th and 26th, followed by Part II on the 27th.

Leading sires featured in the select catalogue include Acclamation, Dark Angel, Havana Grey, Mehmas, Night Of Thunder, No Nay Never, Sea The Stars, Sioux Nation, Starman, Starspangledbanner and Wootton Bassett.

Support

A number of top consignors have supported the sale, with Willie Browne’s Mocklershill responsible for the largest draft, while Malcolm Bastard is set to bring three from the UK.

Upon unveiling the catalogue, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said: “Goffs Classic Breeze Up was positioned from the outset as a premium sale for quality, later maturing two-year-olds and we are proud to present a catalogue that we believe fulfils this ambition with a sire profile that would be the envy of any Breeze Up Sale in Europe.

“We are immensely grateful to the vendors who have supported the inaugural sale with horses that will attract both domestic and international buyers in town for Ireland’s biggest Classic weekend.”
