THE Group 1-winning sprinter Arizona Blaze has been retired by Amo Racing to stand at the Irish National Stud in 2026.

A son of leading young sire Sergei Prokofiev (by Scat Daddy), himself a $1.1 million yearling, Arizona Blaze won the first two-year-old maiden of the season in March 2024 and went on to win the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes before placing in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes, Group 1 Phoenix Stakes and Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.

At three, he broke the track record over five furlongs at Chantilly in the Group 3 Prix Sigy and, following a close second in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, he won both the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes and Group 1 Flying Five at the Curragh.

“Arizona Blaze has always demonstrated exceptional strength, speed and mental toughness and we have complete confidence in his ability to pass on his class, power and temperament,” said Amo’s Kia Joorabchian. “Amo Racing is committed to fully supporting Arizona Blaze throughout his stud career.”

Cathal Beale, Irish National Stud CEO, commented: “Arizona Blaze was teak-tough and remarkably consistent at the very highest level over five and six furlongs. He is a horse with great quality, strength and a terrific action.”

His fee has been set as €12,500, the same as Phoenix Of Spain.

This season, Phoenix Of Spain sired five individual group winners, four individual Group 1 performers including the Group 1 winner Caballo De Mar, making him the leading third season sire in Europe by group race winners.

Lucky Vega, currently with 42% winners to runners following a very strong autumn, will also stand at €12,500.

Nando Parrado gets a small increase in fee up to €7,000 due largely to 38% winners to runners statistic. Shouldvebeenaring covered just under 130 mares in his first season and remains at €6,000.
