A 92-RATED Ulysses mare, who finished fourth in the Listed Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes at Kempton last Saturday topped this week’s Tattersalls Online April Sale at 72,000gns.

The sale of Julia Augusta, previously trained by Roger Varian for Cheveley Park Stud, was the highlight in a sale that had a record clearance rate for the Tattersalls Online platform, as 47 lots were sold for a total of 427,100gns - a 76% overall clearance.

The five-year-old sale topper, bought by owner Jimmy Chua, is out of a half-sister to the dam of Group 3 Chicago Stakes winner Abby Hatcher.

Leading consignors Baroda Stud offered 13 yearlings and sold each of them for a total of 169,800gns, with an average price of 13,062gns.

A daughter of Mehmas realised 45,000gns when purchased by Kingthorn Racing, in turn breaking the record for a yearling sold on the Tattersalls Online platform. The filly is a half-sister to Group 2 Superlative Stakes third Neverland Rock and is out of a half-sister to Havana Gold.

Reflecting on the sale, Pádraic Gahan from Baroda Stud said: “We are pleased with our consignment at the Tattersalls Online April Sale. It is great that all 13 of our yearlings sold and we would like to wish their purchasers luck with them be that for re-offering in the autumn, at the breeze up sales or on the racecourse.”

The Whitewall Stables Complete Dispersal saw five lots sold, headed by useful flat performer Laafy, who was purchased for 27,000gns by trainer Brian Ellison.

The Joseph O’Brien-consigned Al Abreqa, an unraced Churchill filly, sold for 20,000gns to Creighton Schwartz Bloodstock.
