THE British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) have warned that recent storms combined with poor grazing and the possibility of hay shortages have increased the risk of horses suffering atypical myopathy.

Seeds from laden sycamore trees have been blown by recent storms and are now more likely to be found in pastures where horses are grazing. This is combined with limited and poor quality grazing may lead to horses being more likely to eat the sycamore seeds.
