ST Mary’s New Ross saw off rivals Bridgetown College to claim the red rosettes and 10 league points in the open teams class at the latest TRI Equestrian Interschools in Wexford last weekend. Shamrock Storm ridden by Aoife Cummins, Boughlone Nelson and Eva Kent, Coolafinka Quinn ridden by Laura Neville and Queenies Cornet and Mia Kent comprised the New Ross team. Joe Ryan riding Ted, Gracie and Mollie Bates Doyle, Aoife Murphy on Greenfields Lorenzo and Piece of Art and Lily Walsh represented Bridgetown. Loreto Wexford’s Hannah Rose Roche and Hop, Inch Hill Pippa ridden by Isobelle Walsh, Churchland’s Liberty ridden by Freya Barry and Aoife Griffith riding Sally Grey Gallough took third place. Remaining league points were claimed by Presentation Wexford and Kilkenny College.
Brooke Sutton McGarry from Ramsgrange riding the consistent Achill won both the TRI Equestrian Individual open class and the Premier 110 qualifier. Ellie O’Connor riding Grove Street Lady for Creagh College was second in the metre class and also claimed a qualifier spot in the 110 when placing sixth. Hannah Rose Roche and Hop representing Loreto Wexford was third in the metre league class. Freya Barry, Hannah Hennessy Murphy and Judy Sinnott claimed the remaining league points. In the Premier 110 qualifier, second place went to Alannah Bailey riding Kilpatrick Sparkle for Kilkenny College, while Mia Kent and Queen’s Cornet for St Mary’s New Ross were third. Donnacha Burns and Isabel Smithwick both from Kilkenny were fourth and fifth.
