AFTER an absence of one year, Sligo County Show took place in the picturesque village of Riverstown last Saturday. The weather was not kind to the organisers but the damp day failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the pony exhibitors with some well filled classes.

Oonagh Gilvarry from Headford, Co Galway, who was exhibiting at the show for the first time, had a brilliant day with her mini ponies, partnered by her sons Ruairi and Ronan. Ruairi claimed the first ridden class for riders under 10 years of age, on his pony Fofsway Ganymede, before younger brother Ronan claimed the show hunter lead rein ahead of Deirdere Coyne’s Morwyn Bronze Aristocrat, partnered by her daughter Chloe Egan, who also had stood second in the first ridden class with younger sister Ava on board.
