THE sun shone for the Wicklow Area IPS Summer Show at Spruce Lodge last Saturday. The fabulous Johnny Kyle working hunter tracks kept competitors on their toes with clear rounds hard earned.

The day belonged to Rowdown Archer, ridden by Ned Kelly, who took the win in the Open 143 Working Hunter class, and they then proceeded to take the Working Hunter Championship, finishing the day as Supreme Champion of the show.

Reserve supreme honours went to Padraig Geoghegan and the Connemara stallion Glencarrig Bracken who had dominated the ridden and in-hand Connemara classes throughout the day.

In the mini rings, Aine Geoghegan’s show hunter pony, Holthall Gladiator, ridden by Fionn Redmond, won the Open SHP Lead Rein, Novice SHP, Mini Show Hunter Champion before taking Mini Supreme Champion of the Show. Keeping it in the family, Fionn’s cousin Keelan Curley took Reserve Mini Supreme on his pony Pantycoed Mercutio.

The committee would like to thank the Keogh family for the use of Spruce Lodge and the judges, stewards and competitors for making the day so enjoyable.
