Jer Batt

(D.H. Kelly)

This filly went off a huge price for her debut in an interesting auction maiden last Saturday and she showed up well for a long way before fading over the last furlong to finish fifth to Daamberdiplomat.

She should improve a great deal for this initial outing and looks as though she will be well suited by a drop back to five furlongs.

Search For A Song

(D.K. Weld)

The dual Irish St Leger heroine returned from a mid-season break to run a creditable second to Raise You in the St Leger Trial last weekend.

This represented an encouraging effort ahead of Champions Weekend and a strong showing in next month’s Leger looks a distinct possibility.

Dundalk, August 15th

Pinehurst

(M. Halford)

He showed ability on his debut in late June and took a significant step forward on Monday to be beaten just half a length by the useful Lecale’s Destiny in a seven-furlong maiden.

It won’t be much longer before he is making his mark in a maiden.

Roscommon, August 15th

Tiymara

(J.P. Murtagh)

She improved from an unplaced debut to run a respectable fifth in a Down Royal maiden last month and did better again when third to Spirit Genie at Roscommon on Monday evening.

This daughter of Sea The Moon looks quite capable of making her mark before the end of the season.

Killarney, August 18th

Haziya

(J.P. O’Brien)

This filly bounced back from an unplaced run at Royal Ascot to claim some precious blacktype with a third-place finish behind Charterhouse in Thursday’s Ruby Stakes. Earlier in the season she looked a very progressive handicapper and this effort would suggest that she can be placed to advantage in a good prize over the course of the autumn.

Curragh, August 20th

King Of Scotia

(M.D. O’Callaghan)

This colt from the first crop of Kessaar shaped up very well in a seven-furlong maiden confined to newcomers last Saturday.

He was beaten a length and a half into second by Continuous and travelled through the race like a very smart sort, and this effort would suggest a maiden success will be coming his way in the next few weeks.

Curragh, August 20th

The Penny

(J. McConnell)

This lightly raced four-year-old was making just the third appearance of her career when finishing third to Secret Magician in an 18-runner sprint maiden.

This represented a marked step forward on the form of her first two outings and it would point to her capacity to win races over the coming months.

Killarney, August 20th

Fils D’Oudairies

(G. Elliott)

He followed up a creditable fifth behind Hallowed Star at the Galway Festival by filling the same position in a Grade B handicap chase won by Rock Road on Saturday.

He appeared to do everything right throughout the race but didn’t quite seem to get home and back over a shorter trip he could land a good handicap prize this season.

Navan, August 25th

Caramel Lizard

(R. O’Sullivan)

She made an encouraging handicap debut on Thursday when finishing fourth behind the very well supported Our Scholar.

This looked a warm contest for the grade and should produce its share of winners before the end of the season with this unexposed type appealing as one who can make her mark in the coming months.

Navan, August 25th

Chateau Musar

(J. Geoghegan)

This four-time Polytrack winner had endured a quite time of things over the last year and a half, but he ran with plenty of promise in first-time blinkers to be beaten less than two lengths into fifth by Swelltime in a one-and-three-quarter-mile handicap.

He has dropped 19lb in the ratings over the last year and now finds himself back at a level which gives him every chance of adding to his tally.
