Jockey Pathway

- The Jockey Pathway team have made a number of online resources available during the current crisis including simple strength and conditioning exercises you can try at home prepared by Wayne Middleton. Pathway dietician Gillian O’Loughlin has put together a presentation of helpful tips for getting your weight control back on track which includes a sample shopping list as well as a five-day meal plan.

- Phone sessions for sports psychology and diet advice can still be arranged during this period.

- The IHRB’s senior medical officer Jennifer Pugh and press officer Niall Cronin, in conjunction with the Pathway team, has put together a series of videos to help riders prepare for the return of race riding.

- We have added a new service to the Jockey Pathway entitled Career Transition and Support. This service will be delivered by Fran O’Reilly of Amaze Ltd. Fran has a wealth of experience in working with sports people and has performed a similar role with GAA players since 2012.

Industry Assistance Programme

- The Industry Assistance Programme can offer professional consultation, short-term counselling, information, resources and referrals to services in your local area. It is available to all who work in Irish racing and breeding and it is independent, confidential, and free to access. More details are on the Work in Racing website (see link below).

- The Industry Assistance Programme is offering a series of live, web-based sessions facilitated by an Aware specialist, throughout the current crisis. The 10-minute mindfulness exercises can help your well-being.

Education & Training Grant

- The Education & Training Grant is open to all who work in Irish racing and breeding. The programme will provide a contribution towards the fees for any accredited course or training programme for eligible applicants. More details on the Work in Racing website.

Coronavirus supports

- We have developed a coronavirus supports webpage which provides links to detailed information on the range of Covid-19 supports which are available in Ireland, in addition to guidance documents from HRI and the IHRB. We have also provided links for those who are based in Northern Ireland.

- We have added a sample cash-flow worksheet and a template for employers to the coronavirus supports page, along with a selection of frequently-asked questions. The worksheet was prepared by Siobhan Griffin and Claire Rudd from the HRI Finance Department.

- We have also added a frequently-asked question page for employers in the industry which focuses on human resources queries. Employers can submit queries by email to covid19hr@hri.ie and responses will be provided within two working days at the latest.
