WILLIE McCreery has been thrilled with Mary Tudor since her win in the Salsabil Stakes and is counting down the days until the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh on May 27th.

The Dawn Approach filly  quickened up impressively at Navan to win over 10 furlongs but the trainer is not concerned about bringing her back in trip.

McCreery said: “I was pleased at Navan and more importantly she’s been very happy afterwards. It’s onward and upwards, we hope.

“I don’t think coming back to a mile will bother her. They went no gallop at Navan which suited her. I was hoping it wasn’t a strong pace for her first run of the year – I didn’t want to bottom her out.

“They went a slow pace and I like the way she quickened, there were only two fillies who quickened up out of the pack and she was one of them.

“On her final run last season at Naas the soft ground caught her out. Her action just shortened a little because she has a really good action.

“She can quicken, she drops her head and does everything you want her to do.”
