WEATHERBYS has engaged Ian Penrose as senior business advisor.

Penrose has an impressive CV, boasting an extensive career in the racing and gaming industries. He was chief executive of Arena Leisure (now ARC) for seven years from 1998. Following that, he was chief executive of Sportech, a global gaming technology business, for 12 years.

He will be working with Weatherbys, alongside his other business interests, in the areas of sport and gaming technology. He is a non-executive director of Playtech PLC, the non-executive chairman of the National Football Museum, and an advisor to the Alizeti Group.

Johnny Weatherby, chairman, said: “Ian’s experience, knowledge and contacts will prove invaluable to the business and we look forward to him working with our team.”

Penrose commented: “I have known Johnny and the Weatherbys business for many years. I am delighted to be able to work with the team as they prepare for the next stage in the development of an organisation that has been at the heart of racing and breeding for over two centuries.”
