CIARAN Ward triumphed over three rounds to claim the victory in Five-Year-Old Millstreet Ruby. Partnering Drumiller Revolution, Ward was the only rider to record a triple clear round in Sunday morning’s opening young horse championship worth €8,000.

Drawn early in the eight strong jump-off, Ward tread a fine line between setting an unbeatable target and risking his clean sheet. Finding the perfect balance, the Co Leitrim-based rider recorded a faultless round in a time of 42.75 seconds which could not be matched by the remaining riders. Bred by Co. Down man Paul Dillion, Drumiller Revolution is by Corland out of the Puissance-sired mare Revelene. Ward, a full time carpenter, also manages to keep six or seven horses on the go and has produced the mare since the end of last year.
