LAST Friday week’s evening Downpatrick meeting may not have enjoyed the best of weather but that mattered little to members of the Stone Circle Syndicate (which includes amateur Deckie Lavery) whose Twilight Shadow won the Silversea and Etihad Airways Maiden Hurdle in the hands of David Mullins.

The five-year-old Tikkanen mare was bred by Jeremy Maxwell out of Trinity Belle (by Tel Quel), a three-time winner in France whose pedigree page features such blacktype performers as her dam Razzamatazz, Shannon Rock and Goonyella. Twilight Shadow is trained by Brian Hamilton who was also on the mark at previous Downpatrick meeting when Alistair Thompson’s home-bred Kalanisi gelding Bertie Bell followed up three second-place finishes to win the bumper.
